Zeny Cieslikowski

Zeny was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1943. He attended the University of California and majored in Political Science. He is self-taught in photography.

Zeny began his photography career by photographing France and Spain in 1967. His professional time was divided between commercial and fine art photography until 1984, at which time fine art photography became his sole profession. Unlike many photographers, Zeny personally prints both his color and black and white prints to insure the proper interpretation of the original negative.

"My aim is to capture that fleeting moment of the convergence of light, texture, color and form in a composition that transcends the split second and endures for one to see and feel. I do not specifically start out a day searching for a particular subject to photograph in a preconceived way. I believe that it is essential to allow time and the environment to wash over me and to be surprised with the images as they present themselves. Nonetheless, there are occasions when I return many times, in order to take advantage of the changing light."
